The northernmost of Vietnam’s provinces and home to many of its ethnic communities, it is an amalgamation of two formerly separate provinces, Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang, and comprises a large rugged karst region, the Dong Van plateau bordering China, while the topography becomes gentler morphing into rolling hills as it stretches southwards.
